If one were to believe the local legend, avid runner Captain John Smith, organized the first Cohasset Road Race by the Sea following his landing on the town's rocky shores in 1614. After many months rocking and rolling on the high seas; the crew was a bit restless, and according to Captain Smith, a little land air and exercise was in order.
To those participants discovering either a Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks or reliable wifi connection, an exclusive long sleeve t-shirt was bestowed upon them immediately following the post-event banquet and scurvy prevention seminar.
Now in its forty-first year*, runners will compete in the 10k (6.2 miles to us non-Canadians) Boston Marathon tune-up on Sunday, April 2nd at 1 pm from the South Shore Community Center (3 North Main Street Cohasset, MA 02025) starting line.
